Historic Monoposto Racing
Formula talent from previous decades
The racing series of Formula cars from the junior categories of the 60s, 70s and 80s keep an important piece of motorsport history alive.
The Historic Monoposto Racing Foundation was founded in 1996 with the aim of continuing to use historic Formula One cars in competition. At the heart of these activities are authentic race cars, exciting races, and the shared enjoyment of historic motorsport – on traditional race tracks and in an open atmosphere full of motorsport enthusiasts.
Leading across multiple Formula classes
Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi, Arie Luijendijk, Jan Lammers and many others have taken this path. After a successful karting career, the next step towards the top was often Formula Vee, Formula Ford 1600, Formula Ford 2000 or Formula 3. These classes are still the foundation of the HMR field today. Many of the vehicles used back then have survived and are now returning to the race track. This makes the development of international Formula racing from the junior to the professional racer immediately tangible.
Historical race cars, real competition
HMR does not see historical motorsport as a static museum: The vehicles are used in a responsible manner and compete in four main categories for positions and rankings. Close and fair races create excitement throughout the field – making the series attractive for drivers and spectators alike. Looking at the different generations of monoposts also reveals how technology and racing have changed over the decades. The sound of the engines, the open design, and the close proximity to the vehicles make the HMR races a particularly authentic journey through the history of Formula One.
